The airline ticket to the USA is dated September 29, 1953.

The poet died in New York City just over a month later on November 9, aged 39.

Other items on display include his National Insurance cards and red leather travel wallet containing a brief note and a bus ticket.

Dylan's used chequebook and a betting memo on which he wrote betting tips are also included.

The items will be on display until Wednesday, November 21.

Nick Bradley, Swansea Council's cabinet member for regeneration, said: "Dylan's legacy across the world is enduring and, as his home city, it's important we do all we can to celebrate our links with him.

"The Man and Myth exhibition at the Dylan Thomas Centre already attracts many thousands of people from across the world every year, but these new items will further strengthen what is already a terrific display.

"The inclusion of this rich collection of fascinating memorabilia during the Dylan Thomas Festival will help raise his profile even more as we head towards celebrating a century since his birth in 2014.

"These items will give both Swansea people and visitors an even deeper insight into Dylan's fascinating life story," he added.

The Dylan Thomas Festival returns from this Saturday to November 9.

It features Stan Tracey, Graham Hunter, Paul Durcan, Nigel Jenkins, Menna Elfyn, Ros Barber, Kevin Barry and Roshi Fernando.
