DWR Cymru Welsh Water is to take over ownership of most privately-owned pumping stations.

The changes will come about under new laws dealing with responsibility for looking after these pumping stations, paying their associated electricity bills and maintaining them.

Dwr Cymru Welsh Water private pumping station transfer technical manager Andrew Herbert said: "The hunt is now on to find these private pumping stations.

"We would like to know where they are and who owns them, and then we'll check them out to see if they are eligible for and to prioritise their transfer arrangements to Welsh Water, between now and the start of October 2016.
