HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised through a fundraising Swansea rugby match to help tackle cancer.

Organisers said 200 hardy supporters came out despite the bad weather for Dunvant RFC's Male Cancer Awareness Night.

The match involved a Dunvant RFC Vets XV against a combined Swansea District Vets side made up of players from Penlan, Gorseinon and Swansea RFC.

The final score was a 27-0 victory for Dunvant Vets and a total of £500 was raised through the fundraiser.

The game was held to support male cancer awareness as a number of former Dunvant players have been diagnosed with prostate and testicular cancer.

Two Ospreys and Scarlets-signed rugby balls will be auctioned off at Dunvant Rugby Club's 125th anniversary dinner on May 24, with the proceeds being divided between charities helping prostate and testicular cancer sufferers.
