Drunk party-goer put stolen terrapin in takeaway carton
A MAN has pleaded guilty to stealing a terrapin from a house party while drunk after finding it in a Chinese takeaway carton the next morning.
Gary Nicholas Brookfield, 22, of Blaen y Morfa, admitted taking the turtle on August 17 this year.
During his appearance at Llanelli Magistrates Court on October 24, the court heard Mr Brookfield had consumed alcohol at a party at the house of Sarah Bishop, the owner of the terrapin.
It was during this evening that he admitted taking the terrapin and also a docking station of an unknown value.
The court heard that when Mr Brookfield woke up the next morning he had no recollection of taking the terrapin or the other item.
He discovered the animal in a Chinese take away carton filled with water - which he also has no recollection of doing.
It was disclosed in court that the 22-year-old's mother looked after the terrapin initially, but the animal had now been returned to its owner safe and well.
Mr Brookfield pleaded guilty to the offence and a community order was due to be imposed.
