A DRIVER has been beaten around the head and had his car's sat nav system stolen in a shocking attack in Swansea.

Police believe the motorist may have been hit with a baseball bat, and they are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The 34-year-old victim was about to get into his silver Toyota Avensis car in Prince of Wales Road — between the train station and Dyfatty lights — when he was approached by two men.

One attacker forced him to the ground and searched his pockets whilst the second struck him on the head with what is thought to have been a bat.

The attackers then smashed a window on his car, grabbed the sat nav, unit and fled.

The driver was left bruised and shocked by the incident, which happened just before 7pm on Tuesday.

Detective Constable Kevin Howells said: "This attack was a frightening experience for the victim, and although his injuries were not serious the ordeal has left him severely traumatised.

"I would like to reassure the public that fortunately incidents of this nature are not regular occurrences in Swansea.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has any relevant information to come forward."

The victim was treated at Morriston Hospital for head injuries, and has since been released.

The only description of the two attackers is that they are of thin build. They were last seen running away in the direction of Hafod.
