Drive-thru for coffee lovers is Wales' first
WEARY commuters will be offered the chance to get a caffeine boost on the go at the first drive-thru Costa coffee in Wales.
And the shop will form part of a £2million development on the outskirts of the city, creating dozens of temporary and long-term jobs.
Swansea Council has received a planning application for the new shop on the Enterprise Park.
The drive-thru style outlet is planned to be built on Heron Way, between the Asda superstore and Premier Inn Hotel.
The Swansea development, which should be open by Summer 2014, will be the firm's first drive-thru in Wales.
The coffee shop will anchor a £2 million development by South Wales-based developer Actoris.
Matt Bryant, director at Actoris, said: "It is extremely satisfying to bring forward another development proposal for Swansea in challenging economic times.
"We will look to use a local workforce during the construction phase and hopefully the long term jobs that the development should create will provide an ongoing boost to the local economy."
Actoris has confirmed that four additional tenants have been secured for the adjacent site and providing planning consent is given, the development will generate around 30 jobs during the building works' phase and 50 long term jobs on completion.
Actoris recently completed a £10 million development which included the Premier Inn and Tesco in Langdon Road, SA1.
The planning application, which also includes a car park and ancillary works, has been lodged with Swansea Council.
