Dragons show high promise
LAST year was a tough debut season for Carmarthen Dragons B Inter-league pool team.
The squad was at an experimental stage, and with some quality teams in their section it was always going to be a hard season for Paul Rees's outfit.
However, having maintained their place in West Division Two, this year's side has a much more solid look about it.
Better players have been brought in to help strengthen and as a result the team look better equipped to cope with the demands of a league campaign.

Despite some changes in personnel, the Dragons B remains under the leadership of Paul Rees, with Chris Davies still captaining the team on the table.
The opening fixture of the 2013 season was an encounter at Bridgend Sharks, a team who will no doubt have loftier ambitions themselves this year.
The first two sessions of nine each went to a deciding frame, and both were taken by the hosts to give them a narrow 12-10 advantage at the halfway stage.
Battling
The penultimate session proved to be the most difficult for the visiting Dragons, as the Porthcawl-based side stepped up their game to storm to a 7-2 win, which also saw them reach the 19 frames total required for victory.
Nevertheless, every point is vital in Inter-League and the Dragons showed they will have the battling spirit to compete this year by clawing back the final session 6-3 in their favour.
It resulted in a disappointing, yet much more respectable 20-16 loss.
Manager Rees praised his players for their focus in difficult circumstances.
The man of the match was awarded to debutant Ian Marks, who picked up a deserved four wins from four and showed real potential to be a quality addition to this team.
There was also a fine debut for promising Eddie Roberts, who collected three wins from four.
Good support came from fast improving Wales Youth international Josh Dragone, with two wins from three played.
Next up for Dragons B is a home encounter against Port Talbot Redsox, with hopes high that the team can get their season up and running with a victory in their opening home match.
