Don't lay the blame on us
I AM writing in response to the article in today's Evening Post, Head teacher's MMR warning. As a head teacher Wayne Newton should be more aware of the controversy surrounding the MMR jab before he makes such a disgraceful statement as 'parents are now paying the price for not getting their kids vaccinated'.
Parents who chose not to have their children vaccinated did so out of fear, due to the possible link to autism, and to now try to blame responsible parents, who chose to seek out the best information rather than go along with the masses is a disgrace. Lots of parents tried to get single vaccinations for our children but these were refused by GPs.
May I suggest Mr Newton considers these facts before attempting to lay blame at the door of already worried parents.

“I agree that parents acted out of fear, caused by media hype of Wakefield's now-discredited research. There is good evidence to show the correlation between media campaigns against MMR and the uptake of the vaccine: http://tinyurl.com/bvxmv7y”
