Doctor waiting times healthy
WALES has the best GP waiting times in the UK, according to a new survey.
The YouGov study found 44 per cent of patients able to see their doctor on the day they call, as opposed to Northern Ireland where a quarter of people have to wait a week or more for the next available appointment.
However, the study also revealed 15 per cent of Welsh adults claimed they had had to wait more than one week to gain the next available appointment to see their GP.
The study was carried out with online healthcare provider HealthExpress.
Medical director Dr Bram Brons said: "With our increasingly hectic lives we are looking to have access to our GP immediately and our survey shows that in many regions this expectation is not being met, however Welsh residents are bucking the trend with some of the best waiting times in the UK. Many said in general they were happy with the treatment."
