Division one crown within Mumbles's grasp
MUMBLES could virtually wrap up the Antur Insurance South Wales Cricket Association title when they visit struggling Llangennech tomorrow.
Currently a staggering 70 points clear of second-placed Neath, the Seasiders know that a victory with maximum points will take them to the brink of the crown with four matches to play.
Ten wins and three draws from 13 starts is an impressive record for Mumbles, and now their aim is to go through the season unbeaten.
"All three of our sides are going well and we are intent on seeing the season out with the firsts without a defeat," said secretary John Blyth.
Robert Steele is again available for selection after missing last week's game, while talented teenager Dan Lewis-Williams is home from Millfield College and is likely to be in the side for the remaining games.
Llangennech, who had several players missing last Saturday, were skittled out for 86 at Neath and welcome back key batsmen Stuart Evans and Huw Williams.
Gowerton visit Carmarthen Wanderers with Gary Williams and Luke Evans back in their line-up, while Ashley Sutton and Dan Allen are both out.
The Wanderers field the same team that drew with Dafen last Saturday.
Briton Ferry Steel will be below strength when they visit Dafen. Ashley Pass will be out of action, as will Robert Franklin. Into their places come Brian Thomas and Jamie Griffiths. Dafen are set to field the same team that drew with Carmarthen.
Neath, who are in prime position to take the runners-up spot in the first division, will look to the in-form Richard Grant and Adrian Shaw for inspiration when they journey to Maesteg Celtic.
British Steel Port Talbot will need to move up a gear when they visit Ynystawe, who have hopes of overtaking Neath and following Mumbles home.
