Derek Vaughan backs block on mobile roaming charges
A WELSH MEP has backed new laws proposed by the European Commission to block mobile phone roaming charges.
Labour's Derek Vaughan said he was pleased at the step which could force the charges to come to an end in 2015.
Between 2012 and 2014, EU laws have pushed down the cost of mobile data from around 65p per MB to less than 20p. The cost of taking a phone call has also dropped.
Mr Vaughan said: "This is good news for Welsh people and for Welsh businesses, making it easier and cheaper when using mobile phones abroad."
