Day of action on vivisection
WHY would a specialist doctor in emergency medicine "unambiguously welcome a new initiative by the campaign group Animal Aid to criticise leading medical charities"? The answer, in the words of Pembrokeshire's Dr Adrian Stallwood, is that such charities are "subjecting animals to pointless suffering, squandering valuable resources, and engaging in a worrying secrecy about the animal research they conduct or fund".
Medical charities play an important role when it comes to human health, yet many — including Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and the Alzheimer's Society — conduct or fund invasive research on animals. To highlight this, Animal Aid will be holding a Day of Action for Humane Medical Research today, urging people to donate only to charities not involved in vivisection.
For a free list of charities and their vivisection policies, and an End Animal Experiments pack, contact Animal Aid on info@animalaid.org.uk or 01732 364546, or visit www.animalaid.org.uk/ go/charities.

“Sorry to rain on your parade Heatherbeehiv, the link you posted doesn't actually free unbiased info - Understanding Animal Research are cleverly disguised lobby group funded by big pharmaceutical companies to dupe people to believing that animal experiments are a necessary evil. Google some of the charities working on animal experiments to get a better idea of what really goes on in these laboratories.”

“Personally, I choose not to give to medical research charities. It's just a matter of personal conscience. I don't want to pay to torture animals. A lot of the research is duplicated, or done in universities just to get "publications" with no benefit to mankind. I'd rather give to other charities.”

“It is illegal to test on animals if there is an alternative. In many cases there aren't which is why testing on animals is imperative at this time to aid research. The animal aid report looks as if it is written by complete lay people with no knowledge of animal research - which I guess is what it is.”
