Dawnus Construction named South Wales Evening Post Business of the Year
DAWNUS Construction has been named South Wales Evening Post and Swansea Bay Business Life Business of the Year.
Major Swansea contact centre Save Britain Money (SBM) group and Carmarthenshire family pet food firm Cambrian Pet Foods were both highly commended during the ceremony this evening at the city’s Marriott Hotel in Swansea Marina.

Dawnus was one of 12 companies and businesses short-listed for the top award.
Throughout 2012 firms were presented with a series of monthly awards in recognition of their contribution to the economy of South West Wales.

A panel of judges from the Evening Post, Business Life and award sponsors PwC selected Dawnus as the overall winner after being impressed by its consistent levels of sustained growth not only in the region but also on an international level.
The civil engineering and building company employs more than 500 people from its office at Swansea Vale.
Dawnus saw its pre-tax profits for the year ending December 31 2011 rise 296 per cent from £3.15 million in 2010 to £12.49 million.
The company was this week awarded a major construction contract to build Coastal Housing’s £8million Castle Quarter residential and commercial development close to Swansea Castle.
SBM enjoyed a year of growth through acquisitions in 2012 and even featured in a documentary on call centres due to be screened later this year.
The company employs around 700 people at its contact centre in Swansea’s Enterprise Park and CEO Neville Wilshire is predicting a further 1,000 staff could join the business in the next 12 months.
Earlier this month it was named as one of the best companies to work for in the UK in the Sunday Times Best Company to Work For in the UK awards 2013.
Cambrian Pet Foods manufactures its own brand under the Gelert Pet Nutrition label and also packages branded lines for the multiples, independents and pet specialists.
It produces more than 400 cans per minute of canned food and 6 tons of dry pet food an hour.
In October last year Cambrian Pet Foods announced it was investing £1.4 million in an expansion project with support from the Welsh Government’s Economic Growth Fund that will create 22 new jobs.
The Carmarthenshire company, which operates from sites in Llangadog and Pencader, is installing a new high-tech production line to launch new niche premium pet food products targeting the UK and overseas markets.
