Daughter found dead next to mum may have died of broken heart
A DAUGHTER was found dead next to her mother’s body in their own home - and neighbours believe she died from a broken heart at losing her mum.
Devoted Valerie Green, 60, was discovered next to her mother Mavis Green, 83, whose death is not being treated as suspicious.
Friends believe Valerie suffered a heart attack brought on by the grief at losing her mother.
Neighbour Richard Green, 41, said: “It may have been a heart attack when she found her mother and that is what killed her.”
Police were called to the pair’s ground floor flat in Bridgend after a relative could not get an answer at the house.
Police had sealed off their home treating it as a crime scene after they were discovered by a relative.
Pensioner Kenneth James, 73, who lives nearby, said: “The man waited on the pavement and then frantically waved to guide the police car to the right house.
“The police were there all day and all night - they came to my door and asked me if I knew anything but I didn't have a clue.”
Another neighbour said: “We are just numb, it is such a shock. they were lovely, friendly people who always said hello.”
The mother and daughter had only recently moved into he flat which had been adapted for a wheelchair user.
They had a wheelchair ramp put in last week to get widow Mavis in and out of the flat.
Flowers were left outside today. One tribute said: “Val and Mavis, I will miss you so much.”
A Home Office pathologist was called to the scene after the discovery at their flat on Friday.
Post mortem examinations have been carried out and an inquest is due to be opened.
