Dangerous dogs rethink welcomed
WELSH Government plans to bring in legislation to deal with dangerous dogs have been welcomed by a Swansea AM.
Environment Minister John Griffiths has said the Welsh Government is set to meet interested groups and parties with the aim of bringing in new legislation on dangerous dogs.
Mike Hedges, Swansea East AM, said: "It's concerning to think that a member of the public or a postal worker is attacked by a dog around three times a week in Wales, and those are only the reported incidents we know about.
"Compulsory micro-chipping has the potential to benefit both the owners of a dog as well as members of the public. When a dog gets lost, the micro-chip will help owners locate the dog but will also lead to the real owner being found to take responsibility.
"I'm delighted to support this campaign and I'm also pleased that the Welsh Government has accepted the need to take action in this area to help prevent any further attacks on members of the public and postal workers."

“Once again the law-abiding majority are going to be punished for the lawless minority. The only happy people will be the vets whowe, the lawabiding, will have to pay to get our dogs chipped. The scumbag lowlife munderclass will laugh at us again as they "decline" to have their dogs chipped (but like the lack of insurance on their cars). And who will monitor and enforce this new law? The police with their declining numbers? or the council staff with their redundancies? Or will the WAG suddenly find money to fund their latest "look at what we can do first in the UK" legislation?”

“compulsory micro chipping sould be used on every dog never mind just dangerous dogs
licencing vets and charites like pdsa to microchip all puppies from birth
meaning iIeagal puppy farms would go out of business within months of this law being past!”
