ALMOST 200 anglers fished the Loughor Estuary at the Gowerton SAC West Wales Flounder Festival on Sunday.

More than 160 seniors and 28 juniors took part in the event.

Results (all flounders): Seniors — 1. Damien O'Mara 956grm (£500 plus 60 per cent of the pool £94.80), 2. Daniel Jones 868grm (£200 and 40 per cent of the pool,£63.20), 3. Carl Phillips 754grm (£100), 4. Alex Russ 740grm (£60) 5. Steve Tucker 740grm (£60), 6. Andy Morris 738grm (£50), 7. Alan Wright 736grm (£50) 8. Dai Hole 726grm (£50), 9. Joanne Puddlefoot 702grm (£50), 10. Jeremy Evans 700grm (£30).

11. Ian Russ 666grm ((£25), 12. James Chippy 662grm (£25), 13. Tony Sergeant 656grm (£25), 14. Kevin Hughes 648grm (£25), 15. Mike Davies 646grm (£25), 16. Mark Davies 630grm (£25 voucher), 17. Darren Lawry 618grm (fishing reel).

Juniors — 1. Leon Williams 864grm (£200 worth of tackle), 2. Shauna Macnon 650grm (£100 tackle), 3. Josh Davies 598grm (£75 tackle), 4. Chloe Harrison 484grm (£50 tackle).

All juniors who came back to the weigh-in received a prize.

Any other species was won by Marsden Fawkes who landed a mullet of 946grm to win £100.

Meanwhile, Loughor Boating Club hold their annual flounder competition on the Loughor Estuary on Sunday, November 20, with a first prize of £1,250 sponsored by Coors Brewery and Loughor Boating Club.

The winner will also take 60 per cent of the pool and second will get 40 per cent.

Table 2, any other species, is sponsored by Jack Sullivan to the tune of £500.

There is also a free to enter junior table with six prizes and a ladies' table with a rose bowl prize, which is also free entry.

Voucher (Boat Hunters, Burry Port), 9. £25 voucher (Gwennan Fflur, LBC member), 10. £25 voucher (LBC member).

The junior table is sponsored by Country Stores, Gowerton. First prize is a rod and reel worth £125, second £70 rod and reel, third tackle box, fourth a spinning rod, fifth a spinning reel and sixth a spinning rod.

Entry fees: Table 1 senior flounder table £10, Table 2 any other species £2.50. The competition runs from 10.30am to 3pm, with the last weigh-in at 4.30pm. Book in at Loughor Boating Club from 6.30am on the day.
