TWO-TIME Olympic champion Ed Moses has warned Swansea 400m hurdler Dai Greene he’ll have to up his game to turn World Championship gold into Games glory this summer.

After taking European and Commonwealth gold in 2010 Greene backed it up with his first global title in Daegu in September.

However, while quick to praise the Swansea ace, Moses – who was undefeated for ten years, and 122 races, over the 400m hurdles – was less impressed with the winning time.

Greene clocked 48.26 seconds on his way to victory in South Korea, nearly half a second shy of his best and a time Moses believes would not be enough to complete his medals set with an Olympic title.

“Dai ran a good race and burned everybody out, but in the Olympics it's going to be a much faster race,” said the 56-year-old American.

“The start is going to be key. Once you get the momentum coming out of the blocks, you keep that going.

“If you don't have it out of the blocks, you'll never have the opportunity to capitalise.”

One of the most striking factors in Greene’s win in Daegu was his calmness under pressure – both through the rounds and in a final which only started at the third time of asking.

And Moses believes that Greene will need plenty more where that came from in the capital next year.

“You have got to keep your head calm,” he added. “That's what I did throughout my whole career, I didn't think about winning.

“You will decide on race day what the outcome will be. Talking about the race is what blows athletes' minds.

“[Avoiding distractions] will make it a lot easier on you.

“People will put the medal around your neck before you even finish training.

“My advice is just to say 'look we'll wait and see'.”
