A DAD is backing a campaign for a law in his son's memory to inform mums, dads and loved ones about medical mistakes.

William Powell, who has spent the past 19 years fighting for a full-scale investigation into his 10-year-old son Robbie's death, said he hoped the proposal would spare other parents the same heartache.

The call for "Robbie's Law" has been taken up by the organisation Action against Medical Accidents (AvMa). It would make it a legal requirement to tell patients or next of kin if there has been an error in treatment which has, or could, cause harm.

Mr Powell, of Ystradgynlais in the Swansea Valley, said: "It would mean a lot to us if there was a law, but it would be more important for Robbie's memory, because we want to make sure what happened to us does not happen to other parents."

Robbie had been seen by a series of doctors before he died, but none diagnosed his treatable condition — Addison's Disease.
