ONE of Swansea's largest employers has been honoured with two national awards.

The DVLA, which employs around 5,000 people in the city, took the prestigious title of Best Overall Contact Centre of the Year at the Customer Contact Association (CCA) Excellence Awards.

The agency also won the Most Effective Training Programme award.

DVLA chief executive, Simon Tse, said: "I am absolutely delighted that our contact centre has been recognised in this way and I am extremely proud that the staff have been given the recognition they deserve."

“As we all know, trade awards are not worth the tin & contiboard they're made from, but they make a great night out for bosses who never have to deal with the public and have nice evening wear that has to be used once a year, even if it all needs taking out a bit.

A few years ago the DVLA won an award from the same association. Shortly afterwards it cut the number of jobs at the contact centre.
    Will history repeat itself ?”
