DOG DOs AND DON'Ts
HERE are some of the rules governing dog owners in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
Current rules in the Neath Port Talbot area restrict dogs to walking on a lead on the prom at Aberavon beach between May and September.

Dog fouling laws on highways, public footpaths and other pedestrianised areas levy a maximum fine of £1,000 for uncleared mess.
All dogs must have a collar and ID tag too.

Swansea Council operates restrictions on some beaches and sea fronts from May 1 until the end of September.
With the exception of guide dogs for the blind, pooches are banned from the River Tawe to the slip opposite Victoria Park at the site of the former St Helen's Baths (former iron bridge) and from the beach access opposite Sketty Lane to the northern edge of the slip opposite the West Cross Inn.
The restriction applies to Bracelet Bay, Limeslade Bay, Rotherslade Bay, Langland Bay, Caswell Bay, Port Eynon beach — from the eastern edge of the steps to Port Eynon beach to the eastern edge of Horton beach access. Offenders may be liable for a fine of up to £500.
Beaches where you can take your dog all year round include Swansea Bay — from the slip opposite Victoria Park at the side of the former St Helen's Baths to the beach access opposite Sketty Lane, Horton, from the Lifeguard station east towards Oxwich, Mumbles, Pwlldu, Pobbles, Three Cliffs, Tor Bay, Crawley, Oxwich, Mewslade, Rhossili, Llangennith, Broughton, Whiteford Sands and Port Eynon, from the main steps west to the Salt House.
Dogs must be kept on leads on the length of the promenade at Swansea Bay, from the River Tawe to the Knab Rock car park, Mumbles. Also on the promenades at Langland Bay, Rotherslade and Caswell Bay. If you fail to keep your dog on a lead you could be fined up to £200.
