Journeys on First's 41-seater Greyhound buses will also work out around one-third cheaper than taking the train and getting a connecting bus service from Swansea to the airport.

Sarah Wallbridge, regional marketing manager for First Bus in the South West and Wales, said: "We are trying to make affordable transport for our customers and trying to make it as easy and stress-free as possible for people to get to the airport.

"The moment you get on the coach your holiday starts.

"We introduced this service because the market was there.

"More people were saying they wanted to make the journey.

"A lot of people are already making the movement between the airport and South Wales."

Introduction of the service connecting Swansea to Bristol Airport has also seen the creation of ten jobs with drivers being hired at the Cardiff depot to run the routes.

The journey from Swansea city centre to Bristol Airport is likely to take between two hours and 45 minutes and three hours depending on traffic.

Robert Sinclair, chief executive officer of Bristol Airport, said: "The new Greyhound UK service gives people in South and West Wales the opportunity to access the extensive range of destinations available from Bristol Airport, including recently announced bmi regional flights to Hamburg and Frankfurt.

"The Greyhound service provides a convenient alternative to much longer journeys to Gatwick or Heathrow.

"Inbound visitors will also benefit, making it easier to reach venues such as the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and Swansea's Liberty Stadium for those attending sports fixtures or concerts."

“What timetable are you looking at?

I've just checked the Mon-Fri service and there are only 9 departures per day from Swansea to Bristol Airport!”
