Cyclists saddle up for annual rides
ALMOST 600 cyclists from all over the UK will saddle up on Sunday for the annual Merlin Ride.
Riders from as far afield as Northern Ireland, London, Scotland and Yorkshire will descend on Llanarthne's National Botanic Garden of Wales in the early hours of the morning, ready for the start of one of four separate rides.
The Merlin is a sportive ride with four distances on offer, for a wide range of abilities.
The activities get started at 8am, with the start and finish points in the garden itself.

One of the organisers, Phil Edwards, says the event is "perfect for hardcore cyclists as well as those just looking to get into the sport".
"The Merlin Ride is a magical tour of Carmarthenshire's countryside and consists of four separate rides: Towy, Druid, Cothi and Merlin.
"Towy, a 24-mile loop, is perfect for the younger or older rider as it doesn't require a high level of fitness; while at 104 miles and with a very big hill to boot, Merlin is not for the faint-hearted."
The garden will be open to participants from 6.30am and there will also be a cycle trade show with displays by manufacturers, where you can pick up tips about maintenance and technique.
