Cyclists join mayor's race
A RACE dedicated to cyclists is to form part of next year's Carmarthen Mayor's Race.
This year's event was held on May Day bank holiday instead of Easter Monday, as it has been traditionally. The shift proved popular and the day saw disabled athletes enter for the first time.
At last week's town council meeting, clerk Selwyn Thomas, reporting on discussions held by the race committee said there were now plans for a cycle event. The race will take in laps of the town and be organised by the Towy Riders cycle club.
The date of the race next year will remain on May Day Bank Holiday. The Mayor's Race has been a firm fixture in the town for the past 30 years.
