Crews called out on 3 occasions
A SEARCH and rescue operation was launched following reports of a microlight aircraft crashing off Aberavon Beach.
But the search was abandoned after nothing was found, with the RNLI concluding it was probably a false alarm with good intent.
The lifeboat was launched three times on Wednesday, firstly when a fishing boat with three people on board had to be towed back when its propeller became fouled on a mooring line.
Then the crew had to help two people in a 10ft rubber boat who struggled to row in the River Afan after being left exhausted by the conditions.

RNLI spokesman Mel Cooper said the third shout came in at 9.20pm following reports a microlight had crashed.
"It was felt the report was well intentioned as a number of microlights were flying in the area at the time," he said.
