ANYBODY worth more than £1 million faces potential scrutiny in a tax avoidance crackdown.

It will mean 200,000 more people in the UK will be targeted by HM Revenue and Customs' affluence unit, set up to study the affairs of the 300,000 with assets and property of more than £2.5 million.

Lib Dem Treasury Chief Secretary Danny Alexander told a national newspaper that officials would "sniff out" anybody not paying their fair share of tax.

"The measure will apply to people with homes and assets of more than £1 million," he said.

    "Cracking down on wealthy"
By your own admission, you are wealthy,in comparison to somebody who is unemployed,so as the headline about this discussion states, this government is after the wealthy.
Now going on the assumption that you are the type of wealthy person this government is considering to tackle the rising cost of the welfare state, your reasoning makes you the perfect candidate for the higher tax rate.
To quote your post from,Mon 24/09/2012, 10.08am, "It`s only fair they pay their bit",we do need higher rates of tax for the rich!”

“newsaffair I'm far from wealthy, if u think someone on average wage like me is rich then u need to get out more. The average male wage in the UK is just over 31K, if u think that's being rich i feel sorry for U.”

“newsaffair Now that's the difference between me and you, i'm not just thinking of myself but of others. As you probably know most people who work in the steelworks earn between 30-60k, and i'm near the bottom than the top. Yet at the same time i think it's great that lower earner are better off because of the tax threshold going up to 10K.

That aside i do hope the condems do get a grip with their tax policy, the way things are going we will still be spending over £100Billion/year by 2015. Cameron must be thinking he wish he'd never won

And as i've said your views are not that revolutionary, the tea party in America has been in favor of them for many years. U and Sarah Palin should get together some time, i'm sure U will get on just fine.”

Your postings are filled with an idea the higher earners should be the escape route for when times get hard,i.e.,and to tax them heavily. This would leave those people with lesser expectations of life/work,to hold the views that the government will look after them. What a legacy for future generations.
Try putting yourself in the position of workng your way through school, work, and being sucsessful ,and i doubt very much that you would hold those same views. Equality is a right, and not to be belittled with, comments regarding myself about right or left, totally miss the point that i have been making.”
