DAVID Petersen (Letters, October 22) asks if he is able to join the Countryside Alliance and how we are organised locally.

The alliance is an apolitical organisation chaired by Labour MP Kate Hoey with local person Simon Hart as its chief executive. We have a fully elected board, and a network of local committees.

Individuals of any persuasion can join online at www.countryside-alliance.org.uk or by getting in touch with me as the director for Wales based in Llangadog, Carmarthenshire.

The alliance is a campaigning organisation of 250,000 members and supporters spread over the whole of the UK. We campaign on a range of different rural issues as varied as fly-tipping, affordable housing, post offices and of course hunting and other country pursuits.
