Councils' solution for new homes
A CAMPAIGN with £1.6 million backing has been launched to turn empty properties into homes.
Neath Port Talbot has teamed up with Swansea and Bridgend councils to deliver the Welsh Government's Houses to Homes initiative, which offers interest-free loans to anyone wanting to renovate or convert empty properties.
Anyone can apply for the loan if they own or are looking to buy a residential or commercial property which has been empty for more than six months.
Loans are provided on an interest-free basis and must be paid back within an agreed period, with the returned money then offered to new applicants.

Council leader Ali Thomas said there had already been a number of expressions of interest in the scheme.
He said: "There is a need for more suitable housing in Neath Port Talbot and I welcome the news that the council has signed up to the initiative."
