Councils' solution for new homes
A CAMPAIGN with £1.6 million backing has been launched to turn empty properties into homes.
Neath Port Talbot has teamed up with Swansea and Bridgend councils to deliver the Welsh Government's Houses to Homes initiative, which offers interest-free loans to anyone wanting to renovate or convert empty properties.
Anyone can apply for the loan if they own or are looking to buy a residential or commercial property which has been empty for more than six months.
Loans are provided on an interest-free basis and must be paid back within an agreed period, with the returned money then offered to new applicants.

“sochat no that will be down to people living longer, a higher birth rate in the UK, and people moving here from other parts of the EU/rest of world. U might not like it and i'm sure it doesn't fit in with your right wing views, but it's going to happen my son”

“This is good news, it's tragic that so many homes are empty in the Uk and with some many looking for somewhere to live. And with the population going to to 70 million plus in the next few years someone better start getting their act together. I wouldn't count on Westminster doing anything, not with so many of our ministers on work experience there”

“Excellent news there are to many empty properties and to many on housing waiting lists. Anything that helps is good but NPT must reflect on their decision to privatise their Council Housing stock as this restricts their ability to house homeless people as the law requires”
