Councillors discuss budget proposals
SWANSEA Council cabinet members were last night set to discuss its outline budget.
They received a report on the "broad options for achieving a balanced budget in 2013/14".
Proposals for the coming financial year include road repairs, residents' parking and community heating schemes.
It also takes into account investment in schools, social services and culture, despite its below inflation settlement from the Welsh Government.

Before the meeting, Rob Stewart, Cabinet member for finance, said: "We are committed to protecting frontline services that people rely on every day wherever possible.
"However, Swansea Council is no different to other local authorities in Wales in facing increasing demand for its services against a backdrop of reduced funding when inflation is taken into account."
But he added: "The council is committed to delivering on the commitments made last summer to fund a range of initiatives."
