Council services praised
SEVERAL council services that make a difference in Swansea are among the best in Wales.
Data on services including social care, education, housing and the state of the county's roads have been compared to other Welsh authorities in a new report.
For example, seven per cent of roads looked after by the council are said to be in a poor condition, the second best of any local authority in Wales. Children being looked after by the council are also seeing their education performance improving with their overall qualification scores the second best in Wales.
And older people leaving hospital are getting the social care they need more quickly than before.
School attendance in secondary schools was up to 92 per cent in 2012/13.
