Council calls for help to cut its costs
ANXIOUS finance chiefs at Swansea Council want your suggestions to save £45million over the next three years.
The authority has published a budget consultation booklet, Sustainable Swansea — Fit for the Future, outlining a broad-brush approach to saving money and a timetable of action.
Next February the council will have to hammer out a budget for 2014/15 which balances the books. The Labour administration is currently reviewing all options. The current status quo is not an option, it said.
You can submit your ideas by post, email or at special "pop-up sessions" which will be attended by cabinet members and officers.
Your feedback could influence specific cost-saving proposals which will be announced during the winter, prior to further public consultation.
Cabinet member for finance, Rob Stewart, said there was an opportunity to transform the council by finding better ways of doing things.
