Controlled parking zone on the way for Swansea's Maritime Quarter
COUNCIL planners want to introduce parking zones around Swansea's Maritime Quarter as part of the Boulevard project.
The changes will mean an end motorists being able to move from one time-restricted parking bay to another on a nearby street in a bid to beat the wardens.
The area around Morgans Hotel and the Dylan Thomas Centre — Cambrian Place, Gloucester Place, Adelaide Street, Pier Street, Prospect Place, Bath Lane, Somerset Place and East Burrows Road — will form one parking zone.
Drivers will only be able to park once in the zone, and will then have to leave.
Another zone is being planned for the roads around the Princess Way, York Street, Wind Street and Castle Street area, along with restrictions on Trawler Road and around the Paxton Street car park.
A Swansea Council spokesman said: "A controlled parking zone is being proposed for the Maritime Quarter as part of the Boulevard works.
"The zone will feature a mix of residents parking and time-restricted parking spaces for members of the public to use."
The plans are currently out to public consultation, which ends on September 4.
A similar parking zone is currently in operation across all the streets in the residential Sandfields area of the city.
