CONNIE Fisher is more than happy to hear the sound of music once more.

The singing star, from Pembrokeshire, has performed in public for the first time since having surgery on her vocal cords.

The performance took place at the launch of the latest revival of Leonard Bernstein's musical Wonderful Town in Manchester.

The 28-year-old star had feared she may never be able to sing again but has come through — albeit with a different voice.

She said: "I felt like cutting singing out of my life but I'm happy to accept my new voice which is definitely a character voice.

"It's changed from a high soprano to an alto and it's quite an exciting sound."
