Concerns over temporary road closure
CONCERNS have been raised about the temporary closure of a Port Talbot road.
Neath Port Talbot Council is undertaking work on Water Street to fill in a drainage channel.
As traffic has been affected, members of the Port Talbot Chamber Trade have raised their concerns.
Vice-president Steve Redmore said he was assured by the council that the roadworks were only temporary.
It was in 2010 that a controversial road block at Water Street was put up and then taken away by the council.
Chamber president Steve Garvey said it wasn't easy getting to Blanco's for their meeting due to the roadworks.
"I think it will cause chaos for the town," he said. "We want people to go into the town."
Mr Redmore said they will be keeping an eye on the roadworks.
A council spokesman said: "Work is being undertaken to fill in the drainage channel alongside the site of the former bus gate following some complaints.
"Diversion signs are in place, with the work only affecting traffic which is travelling away from the town centre.
