Comparison is laughable
I FELT I had to respond to Howard Moss's preposterous letter (Have Your Say, Aug 6) in response to previous correspondence regarding the fact that homosexuality is deviant behaviour. I find it quite unbelievable that certain people refuse to acknowledge the facts. Just because Mr Moss doesn't like the fact, it doesn't make it not so.
To compare blacks and redheads in his argument is quite frankly laughable, as these people obviously are quite natural and are not deviant.
Don't kid yourself that the majority find the comments of the first correspondent unacceptable. It has just become so legally fraught to condemn homosexuality that people feel they cannot speak out.

“In the original letter, the writer wants to openly describe Nigel Evans MP and others as sexual deviants.
He has done precisely that.
Having done it doesn't seem to be enough.”

“Kaiser,
I don't think he wants that, just the right to openly express an opinion without having the thought police ready to pounce.
As far as I can tell – I didn't see the original letter – a person expressed an opinion that homosexuals are deviant – which according to the laws of nature they are. Does that mean they are somehow wicked? Of course not, does that mean they should be condemned for their lifestyle again of course not, but to try and kid yourself that their sexual orientation does not deviate from the norm is just silly.
The same goes for all other features a person may possess, we should be allowed the freedom of saying we do not like someone because they are black, white, short, tall and so on. This is the way people think, it is their thoughts. Now if you start passing laws saying you mustn't say you do not like that person because he is green – or whatever colour- you are now trying to control the way a person thinks, which is wrong. Civilised countries should not punish people for their thoughts but for their actions.
It is interesting to note that we in Britain have just as many laws concerning race as South Africa during the apartheid era or Nazi Germany. I don't know about you but that scares the hell out of me.
Once you pass laws with the sole intention of forcing you to think in such a way – then the Government can do just that – it can make you think in any way they want.
Today we have laws saying we must not dislike black people because of their colour – tomorrow we may have laws saying we must dislike black people because of their colour. It happened in Germany.”

Thank you for responding - I didn't think that you did.
The letter writer though appears to want open condemnation and discrimination.
That seems to be the purpose of the letter - Why else write it?”

“Kaiser I have no idea why you would think that. Let me try and explain my situation clearly. I DO NOT APPROVE OF VOICING HATE ON ANY GROUNDS WHATSOVER.
Trust that is clear.”

Do you approve of voicing hate on the grounds of race, colour, sexual orientation?”

“Greta,
Can you name me one group of people who have not suffered discrimination of one sort or the other? What you call discrimination others might call free choice!”

“Go on. Scweam and scweam until you are sick.
Black people, redheads and the left-handed have all suffered discrimination in the past at present so, comparison is valid.
You seem very insecure.”
