THE not-for-profit company operating Swansea's LC leisure centre has teamed up with Swansea University to run a water sports centre in the city.

Bay Leisure Ltd has joined forces with the university to win the tender to operate the new water sports centre, which will be located opposite St. Helen's in Swansea Bay.

A spokesman for Bay Leisure said: "Central to the partnership's winning bid was the focus on creating a year-round community facility.

"The centre will offer a range of water sports to individuals of all ability levels including windsurfing, kayaking, kite surfing, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding, but also beach sports such as beach volleyball, beach rugby, and beach football."

Bay Leisure also runs the Simply Gym fitness centre on St David's Road Industrial Estate.
