CHARITY begins at home for Skewen councillors.

Coedffranc Community Council makes donations to charitable causes, but these are either based in the area or helping local residents.

Members decided not to respond to a request for financial assistance from Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales after being told it was not currently helping anyone from the Coedffranc area.

Councillor Keith Davies pointed out Bobath had £500,000 worth of reserves.

This was echoed by Councillor Ian Whitehead Ross, who said: "If they didn't get a penny more they could survive for another year.

"I think the money we have is there to support charitable activity in Skewen."
