Coastal stroll for women's cancer funds
WOMEN of all ages are being encouraged to take a stroll along Llanelli's stunning coastline for a worthy cause.
The Great Welsh walkathon — supported by the Llanelli Star — is set to take place starting from Llanelli's Discovery Centre, at 10am, on Sunday, September 5.
The women-only event will involve a walk over a half marathon (21.1km) or a 10k distance.
It will be a fun non-competitive event and is suitable for all standards of walkers.
The funds raised from the entry fees will help support the charity Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust.
Supporting the event, Star editor Bede MacGowan said: "The Star is always happy to support worthy causes in the town and it's great to see such a fantastic resource as the Millennium Coastal park being put to such a worthy use.
"All you ladies please dust down your walking boots and sign up to support Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust."
Event organiser Tim Gasser said Jo's Trust was the UK's only dedicated cervical cancer charity offering support and information for those affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities.
He added: "Come along to this fun event, help support Jo's Trust and have a great time."
Each finisher will receive an event memento, certificate and Llanelli Star goody bag.
Human Being Active is involved in the organising of many other events that support worthy causes.
Some future events include the Burns Dog Jog, at Burns Pet Nutrition, and the Dogs Day out at Pembrey Country Park, September 19.
