City's jazz scene the subject of talk

NEXT Tuesday, local veteran drummer and popular personality Derek Morgan will give a talk 'A History of the Swansea Jazz Scene' at the Dylan Thomas Birthplace House in the Uplands, starting at 7.30pm. He will be joined for some musical interludes by pianist John Davies, bassist Terry Howells and tenor saxophonist Jim Luxton.

Those who like their funky jazz mixed with a distinctive soulful and bluesy approach will find vocalist Zena James's Funky Jazz Quintet right up their street when this group appear at the Swansea Jazzland presentation in the St James Social Club, Uplands, next Wednesday at 8.30pm. The quintet features saxophonist Simon Allen and Mike Bradley at the drums.
