FORGET red and green cardboard glasses — 3D cinema has hit Wales square in the 21st Century.

And the first place to get it? Swansea's Odeon.

The complex in Parc Tawe now boasts a literal Silver Screen, which reflects more light to make up for the effect of the modern polarized glasses that the audience have to wear to enjoy a film in 3D.

The screen is set to be unveiled tomorrow after a week of exhaustive tests at a special screening of the new animated spectacular from Dream Works, Monsters Vs Aliens.

General manager Alex Jones said: "We're really excited about it. It's so good, so clear."

Read more about the new development in Saturday's Evening Post and read a review of Monsters Vs Aliens in our Weekend supplement next Thursday.

“This is excellent news, and I'm really pleased about this. Well done ODEON.

I must admit that I'm still a little disappointed that we don't have an IMAX theatre in Wales. I think the closest IMAX used to be in Bristol, but that closed down a few years ago. This is the ONLY way to watch films.”

“I really enjoyed the 3D film I watched at the Odeon in Swansea yesterday. Despite the price, I would definately go and see more 3D films. It's definately the way cinemas need to go”
