A CHOIR of young singers will be performing in Llanelli at a one-off concert next week.

Llanelli District Music and Drama Club are delighted to present The Ariosa Singers at Glenalla Civic Hall on Thursday, February 9.

Directed by Penny Ryan, the choir boasts a wide repertoire, which in the past has included Handel's Christmas Messiah, Fauré's Requiem, Vivaldi's Gloria, Mozart's Regina Coeli and Coronation Mass and Lotti's Crucifixus.

The group also performs original works by Gareth Tresseder, Lisa Mears and John Brunning, music theatre hits, as well as commissioned pieces and arrangements.

Llanelli District Music and Drama Club secretary Anne Marie Marks said: "This is the first time we have brought the choir to Llanelli, and we are really looking forward to it.

"They are a young choir, so it will be nice to hear them and to get a bit of support.

"They sing a wide range of pieces, and I think it will be a bit of a mixed bag on the evening from classical to more modern."

The event will begin at 7.30pm.
