HELPFUL children spent their half-term Friday making bird boxes at a Llanelli attraction.

The Wildfowl and Wetlands centre in Penclacwydd saw 15 youngsters in all turn out to make the small houses for blue tits and robins to live in.

Pam Styles, learning assistant at the centre, said: "They put together two different designs, to hold the two different types of birds.

"It was very busy, and if I took a guess, there were about 15 boxes made.

"The children were able to take them home, and they also made a nesting stocking.

"They used an old stocking, and filled it with feathers and twigs, that the birds can pick things out of to make their nests in the boxes."
