Cheer Llanelli doctor and Kidwelly author on as they embark on classic car rally
IT will be the beginning of a big adventure for a doctor and an author this Saturday.
Llanelli Avenue Villa surgery senior associate Edward Lyn Anthony and Kidwelly author Julian Ruck are encouraging everyone to come along and give them a good old fashioned send off as they embark on the Motor Sports Association Euroclassic car rally.
The adventure will see them head off from Llanelli Town Hall in a Gilbern Invader MK 3 two-door coup sports car to the starting point at Dover Castle, where they will then embark on Luxembourg via France, Belgium and Germany.
And they are hoping for a big crowd to bid them farewell.
Dr Anthony said: "We are going to be departing from Llanelli Town Hall which is a nice venue with a Welsh flag to send us on our way.
"I'm the secretary of the Daimler and Lanchester owners club and members of the Daimler club are coming to send us off, and some of the staff and patients are coming as well as people I know from the Colliers Arms — but it would be nice to see any well-wishers there.
"We have made good progress through our preparation stages and just fitted some badges to the Gilbern and got the route map ready.
"Before us will go Aston Martins but the Gilbern is quite powerful and I don't think much will catch it."
Along their way they will be taking on the Presberg Hill Climb and will be visiting various motoring museums such as Mitsubishi, Porsche and Smart Car.
"I'm an enduring sort of man, and this will be an endurance test," Mr Ruck added. "There are plenty of cans and tobacco in the boot to keep me happy.
"Perhaps it'll be the start of a new novel."
