Magistrates told O'Sullivan he was entitled to a bail hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, December 31, but defence solicitor Giles Hayes, indicated this would not be needed.
Family members sat in the public gallery during the hearing.
O'Sullivan was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swansea Crown Court on January 8.
Officers have appealed for anyone who may have information which could help them to contact Carmarthen police.
