Chance for a big clear out
PENCADER residents are being encouraged to have a clear out and make the most of a waste and tyre amnesty in the area.
Carmarthenshire Council's waste and recycling section has joined forces with Tidy Towns for the amnesty which is being held between 8am and 1pm on Tuesday at Cae'r Felin School.
Most household waste can be taken along to the event including unwanted furniture, carpets and mattresses, electrical items such as fridge-freezers and televisions, garden waste and tyres. But paint, garden chemicals, car batteries, gas bottles, asbestos, construction and trade waste will not be accepted at the amnesty.
Residents that dispose of any waste items will also get a free bag of Merlin's Magic Compost courtesy of CWM Environmental Ltd.
Executive board member for technical services Colin Evans said: "Instead of having to make a trip to the recycling centre, we are bringing it to residents. We all have household waste to dispose of from time to time and it can be difficult to get rid of large items, especially if you do not have your own transport."
