THE O'Sullivans have confronted themselves with a moral dilemma no-one else has had to face (Post, October 11) .

When they come to sell their chalet they could either do it for the best possible price or sell it to a family which meets the requirements of their good natures.

To do this they would have to make inquiries into an applying family's financial affairs and get some organisation to help them do this and check what other properties they have been unable to buy. They would also have to make decisions as to the type of family for example how many children or illnesses they might have? Also they should ensure that the family is not being helped by others. They should also put some restriction on the family's ability to sell it at its market value and "make a quick buck".

A difficult decision, indeed, insurmountable for the rest of us.

“Like many retired couples, I expect that the O'Sullivans have no intention of moving.
Anyway, the Planning Committee has yet to to give their decision.

It's interesting to note that the street where the O'Sullivans live has a much higher rate of occupancy than many streets in central Oystermouth.
One street in particular has only 3 families living there throughout the year.
The remainder are weekend/holiday cottages where the owners pay only 50% of the full Council Tax.”
