Chairman praises number who attended trek in memory of Cwmavon photographer Peter Knowles
THE chairman of the Cwmafan Residents' Action Committee has expressed his delight at the number of people who attended Peter's Walk.
Speaking at a Cwmtogether meeting committee chairman Richie Derrick said a special trek in memory of photographer Peter Knowles was attended by many more people than expected.
"I was astounded," he said.
"All together 120 people did all or part of the walk and they raised £1,200 for Cancer Research Wales.

"There was a party atmosphere and it was a wonderful day."
He added that people had been asking if it would be an annual event.
"Wait and see," he said.
Mr Knowles died of cancer at the age of 64 in October 2011, with St Michael's Church in the village packed out for his funeral.
The walk, which was held on January 26, involved a 12-mile trek from Cymmer to Aberavon Beach.
