Cerys joins the Jack Army
CERYS Matthews is a Swans fan after being sorted out with last minute tickets to see the side play at the Liberty Stadium.
The former Catatonia star, now a solo artist-come-highly-respected broadcaster and Radio 6 presenter, found herself at a lose end in Swansea after filming a programme on Dylan Thomas.
When she mentioned to her friend and bass guitarist, Andy Wal Coughlan from Glanamman, that she wouldn't mind watching the game against West Ham on Sunday he was able to inquire about tickets.
Enter Salvo Giannini, who sponsors the side through his business S&G Soils. The Hendy-based businessman said: "I was actually filling up a skip when my mobile went and it was Cerys Matthews.
"I had some spare tickets and a friend of a friend gave her my number; I was happy to help.
"Her husband is a massive football fan and as they were in Swansea they wanted to see the game."
The couple remained for a couple of hours after the goalless draw to enjoy the Liberty hospitality.
"After the game we were able to introduce them to Michael Laudrup and his wife," said Mr Giannini. "She was great company and posed for a photo with our daughter Frankie.
"The next day we had a text thanking us and saying if we ever wanted tickets for one of her concerts to just ask.
"For someone so famous she was really down to earth and just so friendly."
Asked if she was a Swans supporter he added: "She is now."
