IT'S not everyday you get to meet the stars from the big screen.

But scores of Port Talbot residents have been all starry eyed after meeting a host of celebrities right on their own doorsteps.

More than just a few famous faces have descended on the town for the filming of One Chance — a biopic about talent show opera singer winner Paul Potts.

Town centre resident Stephen Phillips said James Corden — who is playing Potts in the film — was kind enough to pose for pictures with his sons, Ellis, 11, and Evan, 14.

"He was really friendly," said Mr Phillips, who lives on Carlos Street.

"We asked him for a photo and he couldn't as he was busy but he didn't forget and came back over and had a photo with Ellis.

"When Evan was here he also had a photo taken with him."

Carlos Street was cordoned off on Tuesday and for some time on Wednesday for filming.

Corden, best known for his role in Gavin and Stacey, was seen riding a bicycle down the street.

"It was great," said Mr Phillips.

"We are going to see the film when it comes out. Everybody seemed friendly, the crew and everybody who was here."

Melanie and Gareth Cole, who also live on Carlos Street said Corden, The Office actor Mackenzie Crook and The Iron Lady actress Alexandra Roach, were just outside their home filming.

Melanie said: "They must have done the scene 50 times. James Corden sat right outside our house on the pavement. It was lovely."

Gareth added: "It is surprising to see how different they look. James Corden looked different and seemed much younger."

Melanie added that although they had been stuck in their homes during the filming and the street had to be cleared of cars, it had not been too much hassle.

"We usually can't get to park on our street," she said. "So it was nice to have an empty street for a change.

"We are looking forward to seeing the film when it comes out." Ann Chilcott, who is the warden at St Catharine's Church in Baglan, managed to meet Hollywood actress Julie Walters — who has appeared in blockbusters such as Mamma Mia and the Harry Potter films.

Julie Walters has been cast as Potts' mum and was in Baglan for a wedding scene.

Potts himself paid a visit to the set at the church on Thursday.

He later tweeted: "Had a fantastic day watching them shooting the movie. Well done @JKCorden great job!"

He then added: "Still can't believe they are making a movie about me! I'm not gonna give anything away but what I saw 2day blew me away. *pinches himself*"

“How can Paul Potts be a small time singer, been on world stage now for over 5yrs, top venues, opera houses like Sydney and Prague. There must be about 200 million views of his voice on you tube. Note the big stars, does that not tell you anything. Why does he have to come from Port Talbot, lives there now and he will do well for the area with this film.”

“How can Paul Potts be a small time singer, been on world stage at top venues, opera houses for over 5yrs now, about 2million people seen him perform live. There must have been over 200million views on you tube with his voice. Why does Paul have to be born in Port Talbot, he lives there now and I think this film will do well for the area. Note the massive stars, does not that tell you something. There is always jealous people about.”
