Cat’s 12 kittens a record at RSPCA Llys Nini in Swansea
A HEAVILY pregnant cat handed in to the RSPCA at Llys Nini in Swansea has given birth to 12 kittens.
Staff say it is a record for the centre.
Luna arrived at Llys Nini two weeks ago.
She gave birth to 12 tiny kittens but unfortunately two were just too small to survive.
Thanks to the work of cattery staff the other 10 kittens are healthy and stable.
They are still a long way from being ready to be adopted but Llys Nini staff are delighted with their progress.
They say Luna is proving to be a good mother, even though she is very young.
A spokeswoman said: “The birth of 12 kittens is something of a record for Llys Nini but is not even close to a world record.
“Llys Nini is currently full of cats and kittens needing good homes with hundreds more on the waiting list.”
Anyone who can give a home to a cat or kitten should go to Llys Nini any day but Wednesdays, between 11am and 3.45pm. Meanwhile Llys Nini staff are appealing to all cat owners to get their cats spayed or neutered to prevent unwanted kittens.
