DEFIANT council bosses have rubbished suggestions the city's popular Mas Carnival is in danger of finishing.

Organisers of the annual spectacular, South Wales Intercultural Community Arts (Swica), fear the writing is on the wall after failing to secure enough funding.

But Civic Centre chiefs have said that, while they don't have a bottomless pit of cash, there are ways of making the annual event happen.
